Family Support Manager Ann Sheppard

The school places great emphasis on pupil and family well-being and employs its own Family Support Manager, Mrs Ann Sheppard. I know that Ann is known to many of you from the time she has spent working with our younger pupils. Many of you will also know her from the support she has been able to give to your family.
Her role in school is to offer advice and signpost you to different support agencies that are out there, but sometimes difficult to access. Her experience, knowledge and contacts have enabled the school to offer support and solve problems for some parents and families which have seemed at the time impossible resolve. Ann treats all her work as confidential and shares with the schools senior leadership on a needs basis. No problem is too big or too small for Ann and her work has benefitted many families, who have become better able to cope and happier as a result.
Ann has her own direct and confidential mobile phone number and you can contact her direct or phone the school and ask to be put through to her. You may even want to call in and catch her at the beginning or the end of the day. She is happy to talk to you in your own home or at school.
The Friends of Yew Tree
This organisation provides a wonderful service to the school. They put on a variety of activities for families and pupils. These include termly discos, Easter activities, quiz nights, Mother and Father's day gifts, a 'walking bus' for swimmers, the Y6 'prom' and leavers books/CD.

Extra Curricular Ativities
The school has a range of extra curricular activities for the pupils to attend. The activities include the following:

Newshound
Choir
Art
The Governing Body
The school has 20 elected or appointed Governors. The Governing Body is very experienced and provides valuable advice to the school. The Chair of Governors, John Dearden, is pleased to see any parent should they have any concerns.
The Governors provide advice and support to the Leadership Team on matters of finance, staffing, premises and curriculum.
