PSHE

PSHE

At Yew Tree, we teach the majority of our PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) curriculum using a scheme called Jigsaw. The Jigsaw curriculum overviews are included below for your information.  Further information about our curriculum is available below but do get in touch if you have any questions.

In line with requirements from the Department for Education (DfE), our PSHE curriculum content is available for parents/carers to view. If any parents/carers would like access to Jigsaw curriculum content/teaching materials, please contact your child's class teacher as they will be able to provide a link to a portal which gives time limited access to the resources.

Relationship & Health Education (RHE)

Our RHE curriculum is designed to match guidelines from the Department for Education. Any changes to our approach shall be noted on this page and, where changes are made, there shall be full consultation with parents/carers.

If parents/carers wish to withdraw their child from the Sex Education elements of the RHE curriculum (although it is important to note that some aspects are covered within the 'health' part of the RHE curriculum), they should contact the Head Teacher. Please note that Sex Education is not the same as Relationships Education so a conversation with school is important to ensure there is a full understanding of the aspects of the curriculum a child can be withdrawn from.

Currently, at Yew Tree Primary School, we do not teach any additional optional elements of Sex Education beyond those which are statutory as part of RHE.

RHE CONSULTATION 2026

Yew Tree Primary has updated its PSHE curriculum for 26/27 and onwards to incorporate the latest statutory guidance from the DfE. Information about the changes are included in the documents below and parents/carers are invited to a consultation meeting on WEDNESDAY 15th APRIL at 2.30pm.

Information shared at the meeting will be shared, once the meeting has taken place, so that it is available for those who were not able to make the meeting. The consultation will be open from 15.04.26 - 29.04.26 (9.00am) and, once it has concluded, outcomes from the consultation will be discussed with governors and communicated to parents/carers.

If you have any questions related to this, please get in touch via the office.
