Peer Mediators

Peer mediators are trained children or young people who help their classmates and peers resolve arguments and minor conflicts peacefully and fairly.

What Peer Mediators Do

  • Remain neutral: They do not take sides, judge, or blame anyone in the argument.
  • Listen actively: They let each person share their side of the story without interruption.
  • Guide discussions: They use special communication rules to help people understand each other's feelings.
  • Encourage solutions: They help both sides brainstorm ideas to find a fair fix, but they never force their own answers.

Key Rules of Peer Mediation

  • Voluntary: No one is forced to take part; both sides must agree to join.
  • Confidential: What is said during the talk stays private between the people involved and the mediators (unless safety issues or bullying are reported).
  • Low-level disputes only: They handle minor issues like name-calling, rumors, or falling out with friends, but pass major problems like bullying or physical harm to school staff.

This year we have a fantastic group of children who have given up their own break times and lunch times to ensure that the playground is and stays a fantastic environment for all.

They are Simran, Amelia, Hibbah, Anaya-Rose, Sakura, Sarjod, Savleen, Brodie, Marnie, Connie, Destiny, Maisie, Riley, Excel, Olivia, Elora, Eesha, Ryan, Illani, Ethan, Imani, Heidi-Rae and Kenadee.

Keep an eye out for these children in the orange high vis as they are there to help you resolve your problems and create solutions
