Autumn 1

Topic

Our topic for Autumn 1 is "Me and My Community".

This project supports children with settling into the new rules and routines of school and encourages them to make new friends and feel confident in their class. It teaches children about being helpful, kind and thoughtful at home and at school. This project also teaches children how they are unique and special, the importance of friendship and how people in their family, school and local community are important and can help them.

Mathematics

As mathematicians this half term we will be focusing on numbers up to 5. We will be matching, counting and sorting up to three objects, increasing to the value of five. Children will compare collections of objects in a set up to the value of 5 using mathematical vocabulary. We will also explore measurement, looking at height, weight and capacity, making comparisons. We will finish the half term by exploring patterns in a range of contexts, such as shape, colour, size, actions and sounds.
