The Nursery team are excited to welcome you to the Yew Tree family and we are really looking forward to working with you and your child this year.
We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned.
The staff that will be supporting your child in their learning journey this year are:
Class Teacher/Acorns Group Leader: Miss. Horsley.
Teaching Assistant/Berries Group Leader: Mrs. Bowdler.
Teaching Assistant: Ms. Belsten (AM Only)
Early Years Lead: Mrs. Fry.
Other Staff: Mr. Smith and Ms. Jerrison
PE for Nursery children will take place once a week.
Morning Children: Friday
Afternoon Children: Tuesday
Children are not required to wear a PE kit in Nursery.

Forest School at Yew Tree offers unique outdoor learning experiences. It has many benefits, from encouraging curiosity and nurturing a love of science to developing empathy for the environment and heightening classroom outcomes. Forest School not only provides opportunities for children to take their learning outdoors, but also develops many skills that are sometimes hard to teach in the classroom.
KEY DATES:-
Forest School will take place once a week for Nursery children.
Morning Children: Every Thursday
Afternoon Children: Every Thursday
Children are required to wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom.

On the Beach
In the On the Beach project, the children will share their experiences of visiting a beach and learn about animals that live in rock pools and on the seashore. They will explore days out at the beach and compare their experiences with beach holidays. They will learn about the animals that live in the sea and find out about worldwide seas and oceans. They will explore the importance of looking after the environment to keep living things safe. They will learn about staying safe at the beach and find out about people who help us.
Move It
In the Move It project, the children will participate in physical activities and learn about the importance of exercise, getting a good night’s sleep and eating a healthy balanced diet.
