Year Three

Welcome to Year 3

 

We are really excited to get to know all of you and work with you and your child this year. We have lots of exciting things coming up during the year and this page will give you the key information you will need.

 

This year, the staff that will be supporting you are:

PE DAYS

Each class will have 2 PE sessions per week.

Please ensure PE kits are in school on the first day of each half term, these will then be sent home at the end of each half term. The PE uniform policy can be found on the school website.

Topic 1

Through The Ages

This project teaches children about British prehistory from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, including

changes to people and lifestyle caused by ingenuity, invention and technological advancement

 

 

Companion Project

Prehistoric Pots

This project teaches children about Bell Beaker pottery. It allows the children to explore different clay techniques, which they use to make and decorate a Bell Beaker-style pot.

 

 

Topic 2

Rocks, Relics anRumbles

 

This project teaches children about the features and characteristics of Earth's layers, including detailed exploration of volcanic, tectonic and seismic activity.

 

 

Companion Project

Ammonite . 

This project teaches children about artistic techniques used in sketching, printmaking and sculpture.

Our Current Topic

Urban Pioneers

This project will teach children all about urban life. They will make comparisons between urban and rural landscapes. The children will be describing how their local area has changed over time and the impact these changes have had on their local community

Companion Project

People and Places

This project teaches children about the genre of figure drawing. They study the figure drawings and urban landscapes of the artist LS Lowry and create artwork in his style to show scenes from their school.
