In the Groundbreaking Greeks project, your child will explore key periods of Greek history, from early civilisations to the Archaic and Classical periods. They'll learn about the influence of geography on city-states and Athenian society, while discovering the significance of Greek art, culture, and philosophy. From Alexander the Great to Greece's role in the Roman Empire, they'll uncover the lasting legacy of ancient Greece and its impact on today's world.
In this project, children will learn about allotments in the United Kingdom and how the government encouraged people to have them to support food rationing during the Second World War. They will have the opportunity to learn about farming in the United Kingdom and the techniques used in modern farming, including the challenges that farmers face. They will learn about the benefits of eating seasonally and about the pros and cons of importing food. They will also learn about world farming and how the different climate zones affect where different foods can be grown.
Let’s travel back 5000 years, to the dusty realms of ancient Egypt. Cruise along the Nile, entering a world of mysteries and curses, mummies and kings. Unravel the secrets of ancient tombs, using historical sources and ancient artefacts. Find out about powerful pharaohs and grandiose gods. Who knows what treasures you will find?
How did it feel to work in a coal mine? How has the coal mining industry changed over the years and does it have a future? We will be exploring these questions and more in this special project about the coal industry and its impact on the UK.
