What types of Special Educational Needs are there and how does the school support them?

Staff at Yew Tree work with and support pupils with a range of additional needs. Some needs may be supported by the use of additional staff within the classroom and others through the use of interventions or specific 1:1 directed targets. The Whole School Provision Map has been created to show the types of additional needs we have in school and examples of how these needs are supported.

Interventions are often implemented to offer additional support and help bridge any gaps in a child or young persons progress or achievement. These are short-term, targeted programs aimed at also addressing specific social or emotional needs for individual students or small groups. Typically, interventions are carried out by Teaching Assistants (TAs)

In addition, information below indicates some of the main interventions we use and the anticipated impact of these.
