Autumn 2

Topic

Our topic for Autumn 2 is "Once Upon a Time".

This project supports children to develop a love of stories and reading. It encourages children to learn, retell and act out familiar and traditional tales including Cinderella, Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Mathematics

As mathematicians this half term we count up to 5 items, using touch counting. The children will know that when we count the numbers need to be said in the correct order and know that the last number said tells us how many are in the set. We will also explore, name and compare common 2D shapes - circle, square, triangle and rectangles including squares. We will combine to numbers to find a total and explore numbers bonds and different ways to make 5.  We will learn how to find one more/less. We will finish by ordering the events of the day and finding simple ways to measure time.
