Topic

Starry Night

This project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches children about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and helps them to discover what is happening in the world while they are sleeping, including finding out about nocturnal animals.

Winter Wonderland

This project teaches children about the changes that happen during winter, including the types of weather associated with winter. It also explores places that have snow all year round and the types of animals that live there.

Mathematics

This half term, we will be introducing the number name ‘0’ learning our number bonds to 5. We will then look at numbers 6, 7, 8 and different ways of making these numbers, working up to recognising numbers to 10 and number bonds to 10. We will use mathematical language to describe position and begin to look at 3D shapes, naming them and beginning to describe them. We will practice counting objects using the one-to-one order principle and also counting out an amount from a larger group. We will practice putting numbers in order up to 10 and comparing numbers.
