Spring 1- Famous Artists Week

Year 3's focus artist was Claude Monet. We found out information about him and the media that he used. We then created pieces of art work using watercolours and chalk pastels.

Also, during the week, each child contributed to our large piece of art work where we recreated Monet's 'Waterlillies under a bridge.'

Watercolours

Monet used a variety of watercolours when creating his paintings. We spent some time discovering the different skills needed to successfully create a watercolour picture.

We then applied these skills when creating our own sunset pictures.

Pastels

Monet also used pastels when creating some of his masterpieces. We followed a tutorial in how to use pastels in many different ways to create different effects.

We then applied these skills to recreate 'Woman with a Parasol.'
